Which hardwood floor can I install over a concrete slab?
Manufacturers do not recommend installing wood floor on a concrete slab. However, most engineered and long strip engineered plank floors can be used over a concrete slab. However, please be sure to follow manufacturers installation guidelines for warranty.
I have engineered wood floor. Can it be refinished?
Good quality engineered wood floors can be refinished one or two times. Please contact East Can Flooring experts to check out if your floor can be refinished.
I have pets. Can I install a hardwood floor?
Hardwood floor is not designed for pets. However, many home owners with pets get hardwood floor installed.
I have an existing vinyl floor. Can I install hardwood floor on it?
Yes and no. This is subject to a few conditions. Please contact East Can Flooring experts for proper guidance.
There are scratches on my wood floor. How do I remove them?
This depends on what type of wood floor you have. East Can Flooring experts will guide you appropriately after the installation is done.
Can throw rugs be used on hardwood floor?
Before you use any throw rugs on your wood floor, please ensure that the finishing you have on the floor is compatible by talking to an East Can Flooring expert. Move the rug occasionally to prevent shading of the wood floor.
Can a solid wood floor be installed over a concrete slab?
Not recommended. This is the general rule; however, there are exceptions. We can do that by following special installation procedures. Please note that this type of installation may void your warranty.
How do we stop a wood floor from gapping?
Gapping cannot be stopped 100% as it is natural for wood to expand and contract based on humidity. Engineered wood floors are most stable and don’t exhibit much gapping. Usage of humidifier during hot months will help a great deal to reduce gapping.
